As you probably know, if you live in an area that gets quite a bit of snow during the winter, having a snow blower is almost a must. There are a variety of different brands of snowblowers that you can choose from and one of the best brands is Toro snowblowers. Toro snowblowers are one of the most popular for clearing decks, sidewalks, walkways and driveways. They come in one and two stage blowers depending on your needs. These are excellent for commercial and residential use. The prices vary depending on which models you select. As with any snowblower, here are some tips for trouble-free maintenance.
First and foremost make it a religion to police your yard before each snowstorm. A stray rope or trashcan lid can wreak havoc with the machine you depend on. This is especially important if there are children who play in your yard. Before frost is in the ground drive stakes at critical points to prevent you from shredding things such as a rosebush. When there are drifts and banks of snow all around you can easily misjudge things.
Spray the discharge chute with a silicone spray before each storm. A furniture polish such as pledge also works in a pinch. This will reduce clogging and increase the distance you can throw snow . When you are done, let the machine run for a few minutes with the impeller spinning. This will let the machine dry itself out a bit and help avoid damaging freezups.
When your done have a whisk broom handy. After the engine is shutdown remove as much snow as possible before storing. You’ll have less mess in your storage space and the warm engine will have a better chance of drying itself off. Think about how you’re going to blow your snow. Some of this will be trial and error but here are some starting points.
As much as possible with a 2-stage machine try to blow snow with the natural flow from the impeller. This usually means throwing to your right. If you go against this flow the snow has to switch to a different arc when it reaches the chute and this will cost you velocity and distance. Be aware of your winds. This is easy because if you get it wrong you will feel like you fell into a tub of snow-cone ice. In many areas you can count on prevailing winds especially after the storm. In this case working with the wind will let you do a better job while being more comfortable.
Try to avoid backing. Consider S patterns of even circles to keep the machine working. Sometime you need to go back and forth but usually you can find a way to keep moving forward. This will save some transmission wear and seem less tedious to you.Try not to blow snow twice. If it’s heavy snow and you need to blow it in 2 hops you may want to clear the midpoint first so it won’t get too deep or packed.
The Toro snowblowers come with a two-year manufacturer warranty for parts and labor. There are several models to select from for both the one stage and two stage blowers. Some of the benefits include lightweight, compact and user friendly. Some people enjoy using these snowblowers so much that you might volunteer to clear your neighbor’s walkways for them after you finish yours. Of course, this is good news if you hate working outside. Toro offers recoil and electric start snowblowers. They have excellent clearing width and a throwing distance up to 30 feet to get rid of the snow that you just cleared. These are very popular for driveways, decks, sidewalks and even walkways. They will save you from hours and hours of hard and laborious snow shoveling.

On a trip to the northern tip of Maine to visit my aunts and uncles, I was able to get my Uncle Clarence to show me his 1989 Ariens GT20 tractor. It features a Kohler Magnum 20 engine. (GT20 stands for Garden Tractor 20 HP). In this video, it has no equipment, but he traditionally uses the mowing deck and bucket in the warm months and a 2 stage snow blower in the winter with a cab. He has modified the tractor with weights and tires to improve traction and stability, and his only complaint deals with the hydraulic accessories which could be a bit beefier. It has a completely hydraulic power steering system with no mechanical link to the front wheels. When the tractor is running, the steering wheel has a little pump that turns the wheels when the tractor pump isn’t running.
While space shuttle astronauts have reportedly used Laughing Rabbit photon LED lights in their endeavors, the average consumer will quickly find that there’s no need to go into orbit to find uses for one of these. The amount of illumination you get from this extremely compact and lightweight light is truly surprising-and it fits on your keychain. Weighing a mere 5-1/2 grams and small enough to disappear under a quarter, the Photon II gives you enough light for almost any task. The LED bulb is virtually unbreakable, yet is nonetheless covered by a manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee. The replaceable lithium battery (included) gives you a total of about 12 to 14 hours of use. In addition, the Photon II comes with a slider on/off switch, which means you don’t have to apply continuous pressure to the squeeze button to receive a continuous beam (unlike the original Photon Micro-Light). This is really a nifty little tool that you are guaranteed to appreciate the next time you find yourself in the dark.–Josh Dettweiler

However, when you are actually buying a snowblower the number of different options may be confusing and it can be difficult to decide which is your best buy. The ideal buying process is to first research and evaluate, then purchase. Research first Before buying a snowblower, work out what you will actually use one for and understand how the available features meet these needs. Consider the following: Type – Single-stage blowers use a single auger, is pushed manually and aren’t suitable for use on gravel or dirt; two-stage blowers use an auger and an impeller, are self propelled, more powerful, and run on skids, so can be used on unsealed surfaces. Engine – Two or four stroke; generally single-stage blowers are two stroke (fuel & oil mix) whereas Two-stage blowers are four stroke (fuel only). Components – The auger breaks up snow and picks it up as it rotates; the impeller in a two-stage blower increases the speed and efficiency of this process; snow is fed to a discharge chute where it is ejected (blown). The chute can be positioned to blow snow …
